Jeffrey The Natural Builder

This was the third project I ran with Hartywn. Two straw bale studios connected by a covered eating area. Half of the build consists of garden buildings and wood storage. The studios are clay plastered internally with earthen floors. The building in clad in durable UK grown larch timber. The studios are insulated with a combination of wood fibre, straw bale, sheeps wool and foam glass.

The build was 18 weeks long. We had 10 students for the duration of the build, who learned all the skills of building a low impact eco home. They dug the foundations, laid the bricks, built the timber frame, installed the roof, insulated, rendered and clad the building. It was a joy to construct and I couldn’t be more happy with the finished product.
